- ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪If one of his patients dies after surgery, don't expect an autopsy unless you can pay for it yourself. This happened to my family. We will never know why we lost our loved one. The hospital didn't care and neither did Dr. Allen. Just as a human being, you would think he would have the compassion to let a family know why a relatively minor operation ended in death. But, no, he was more concerned in sending his wife around to act like our best friend. In my opinion, just a way to test the waters (Are they thinking of suing, demanding an autopsy, etc.) Unfortunately, in AZ, an autopsy is not required regardless of the circumstances, so there's no option of demanding one. On top of the mental anguish, the family lost a possible $10,000 in accidental-death benefits (if the death had been caused by a blood clot, for example, this would be "accidental." Oh, and how could I forget? After the surgery was completed, he explained that it was more complicated than a previous surgery, then made some remark about the patient's physical fitness: "He's not exactly Charles Atlas."
